The Martorell Music Festival, which takes place from 17 to 22 June, has started on its first day with a speech by the music and teacher of the Municipal School of Music of Martorell Anna Roig. For his part, singer-songwriter Cesk Freixas presented the book Catalan tales of today and forever and has taken part in the Secret Stages. The activities took place in the Plaça de les Cultures and the Cultural Center, the epicenter of the Festival.
“We all have one soundtrack. We all have music that has accompanied us over the years and that, as with the photographs when we see them after a while, if we hear them again they transport us emotionally to their moment of origin “, said Roig in the proclamation.
For the singer and teacher, music is always “present in our lives” and “we are already beginning to hear it at 4 months of gestation, in the mother’s womb. From minute zero it makes us vibrate and accompanies us, whether we like it or not ”. That’s why he invited everyone to remember the music our grandparents or we used to listen to when we were kids or teenagers.
Music is even more special for those who are professionally engaged in it. This is the case of the announcer, who said she was lucky “to work at the EMM. My classmates and I can feel very fortunate that our day-to-day life is dedicated to accompanying people from 9 months to old age with a desire for music to play a more important role in their lives. ”
For his part, the Mayor of Martorell, Xavier Fonollosa, recalled that this Festival coincides with World Music Day, June 21, and wished everyone to enjoy musical activities like this, and many more of a cultural nature that may come.

Cesk Freixas presents a book and takes part in the Secret Stage
Cesk Freixas has presented at the Martorell Library Catalan tales of today and forevera collection of bedtime stories, folk tales aimed at a new generation of parents, boys and girls from 7 years of age.
The popular singer-songwriter recovers stories we know –Patufet, Uncle Christmaso The legend of St. George– and recovers others that have been forgotten, and that serve to know a little more about the Catalan-speaking territories and the stories of our people. He does this through an album that comes with illustrations by Albert Arrayàs.
While the square hosted an EMM summer Jam Session, different spaces of the Cultural Center have been part of a new session of the Secret Stage. A cultural activity – surprising, free and for a group of a hundred spectators – which, in this case, focused on the musical genre. Participants enjoyed the Wooden duets -an advance of the composition project with wooden instruments by the Martorell musician Andreu Domènech, accompanied by César del Val-; the concert Ual la! with Alba Rubió and Modesto Lai inviting play and musical research by making art and creating what is everyday; a taste of the 3D show by Nico Roig and the final intervention of Freixas, accompanied on guitar by Víctor Nin, who has introduced poetry in a more natural and direct way in the songs he has performed.
Once again in Plaça de les Cultures, there was time for a Piano Bar: piano teacher Àlex Badia played musical pieces accompanied by this instrument, making himself available to anyone who wanted to make a musical request and sing -the. The evening was accompanied by a cocktail service with Rubén Adamuz.
