Andy Murray has shoes and wedding ring back: ‘They still stink!’ | Tennis

Murray has his shoes and his wedding ring back! “I had to make some calls to security, but I got my shoes back. And my wedding ring. Those shoes still stink, by the way!”

What was the story behind the shoes and the wedding ring?

Murray, who married Kim Sears in 2015, has been playing with his wedding ring on one of his laces ever since. And of course he did when he trained for the masters tournament in Indian Wells. The theft prompted the Scot to post a video on social media in an attempt to get the ring back.

“Last night after dinner in Indian Wells, I got in my car to go back to the hotel where it didn’t smell great. I had left my tennis shoes there. It was 38/39 degrees so the shoes are damp, sweaty and smelly,” Murray said in the video.

“When I got back to the hotel I decided that the shoes needed some air, I had to dry them out a bit… I don’t have a balcony and didn’t want to leave them in my hotel room because otherwise it will smell. So I figured I’d put the shoes under the car…at night. When I got back to the car in the morning, they were gone.”

“I had to go to a local store to buy other shoes. That’s not the end of the world, but not ideal. I was preparing for my workout when my physio said ‘where’s your wedding ring?’ And I was like ‘oh no’…. So yeah, my ring was stolen too. Needless to say it’s bumblebee at home, so I want to try and find him.”
