The players have been waiting for this pad for 10 months, but they finally got it.
Backbone One PlayStation Edition – a smartphone gamepad created under license from Sony – was released in the summer of 2022. However, it debuted only in the iPhone version, and Android users did not even get a clear declaration whether a variant for a competing platform is planned at all.
The creators have just announced that the pad for iPhones was received so warmly that they decided to also prepare a version for Android smartphones, which a lot of people had been asking for for months.

Backbone One PlayStation Edition turns your Android smartphone into a mobile console
Backbone One PlayStation Edition, unlike the basic version of the controller, uses a design inspired by the DualSense pad from PS5 and Sony’s characteristic button markings.
The pad has received official support for the PS Remote Play application, which allows you to remotely transfer games from a paired PS4 or PS5 console. After connecting the controller, the app will launch in landscape view, which will make navigation easier.
Although the accessory was created mainly to work with PlayStation, it can also be used to play native Android games or popular cloud platforms. There are no restrictions to other controllers.
The Backbone One PlayStation Edition has a sliding design that is adjustable from 176.7 to 257.6mm in width. The pad connects to the phone via USB-C and is powered by its battery. However, it also has a USB-C socket in itself, which allows you to charge your smartphone while playing. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The manufacturer ensures that the official PlayStation controller is compatible with most smartphones with USB-C and Android 8 or newer.
Backbone One PlayStation Edition: Pricing and Availability
The controller in the android edition costs EUR 119.99 (approx. PLN 540), which is exactly the same as the iOS version.
Orders can be placed at the Backbone online store. Important note: after entering the store’s website, you are asked to indicate the location, but Poland is missing from the list of countries. However, if you select any other country, you can choose a Polish address at checkout.
