Andreas Bübler was finally elected president of the Socialist Party (SPÖ) of Austria, as errors were found in the counting of votes that took place last Saturday at the party’s congress, where Hans-Peter Doskichill was elected leader.
According to the head of the party’s electoral commission, Michaela Grubeza, more invalid votes were found, while the ballot numbers did not correspond to the digital result. As explained by Mrs Grubeza, who apologized for the mistake, Andreas Bübler finally received 317 votes, compared to 280 for Hans-Peter Doskochill. The latter had previously won the grassroots vote, which however had to be ratified at the convention.
