André Gerson takes over general management of the new GCI Media Group – Meios & Publicidade

GCI Media Group will be the new name assumed by the group led by Bruno Batista following the acquisition of Media Consulting and Sonomage, a deal that had been advanced to the market last August. Last summer, the businessman bought the two companies founded by Jorge Passarinho, with the aim of setting up a new business group in the field of communication alongside the companies he already owned: the communication agencies GCI and the Sustainable Society Initiative and the WMK event and activation agency. These are also joined by Meraki, a communication agency that marks the group’s entry into the Angolan market.

The name and corporate identity of the group that encompasses the six companies is now presented to the market, as well as the appointment of André Gerson, until now at the head of Media Consulting, a position he will retain, to assume the general direction of the new GCI Media Group. The new designation, the group now explains in a statement, results precisely from “the combination of two of the biggest forces that existed in the group in terms of reputation: GCI, which brings the experience of ‘integrated communication managers’, and the Media, which highlights the expertise in ‘consultancy and media relations’ of Media Consulting’s DNA”. According to the group, all companies “will continue to act independently and with their own positioning, creating synergies whenever necessary”.

“Assuming the general direction of the GCI Media Group is to make a commitment to make this ecosystem even more dynamic and fully operational in terms of synergies between the brands in our portfolio, to boost innovation, to reinforce the quality of the solutions we deliver and to ensure that the robustness and growth of all companies underline the assertion of the GCI Media Group as one of the leading communication groups in Portugal”, says André Gerson.

With the aggregation of these units, the new group, believes the person in charge, “has the combination of experience, energy and capacity to innovate of the various companies that make up the portfolio”. “We exist to support our clients to grow, building strong brands through world-changing communication, with inspiring stories, creative content, innovative approaches and above all ensuring a genuine purpose in words and actions. All the brands in our portfolio were realigned taking into account this group positioning”, points out the new general director.

In the words of Bruno Batista, CEO of the GCI Media Group, “the new identity and repositioning of the different brands respond to market needs and prepare the structure for the new challenges of this sector”. “The focus on content creation, influencer marketing and entry into the Angolan market are the main innovations for 2023”, says the official. As for the appointment of André Gerson, Bruno Batista also underlines that “it happened very naturally, since he has a very integrated experience in different areas of communication”.

It is recalled that Bruno Batista, then owner of the design, events, activation and architecture company WMK, bought in 2019 the GCI brand, specialized in communication consultancy.
