Prague – In January, 1,336 companies ceased to exist in the Czech Republic, which is five percent more than in January 2020. At the same time, 2,413 companies were established, 11 percent less than at the beginning of last year. While from the point of view of newly established companies it was the weakest beginning of the year in five years, in the statistics of the number of defunct companies it was the highest January number since 1993, it follows from the analysis of data of the portal www.informaceofirmach.cz performed by CRIF.
“At the beginning of this year, in principle, only the recent negative trend continued, which is characterized by declining people’s interest in business, whether it is the establishment of new companies or trades, and, conversely, an increased number of liquidated companies and interrupted trades,” said CRIF analyst Věra Kameníčková .
