An exhibition commemorates the centenary of the birth of Joan Triadú

From today until July 5, the Martorell Library hosts the exhibition Joan Triadú in the city of books. The exhibition is part of the events that will take place this year throughout the territory to commemorate the centenary of the birth in Ribes de Freser of Joan Triadú, whose life trajectory is closely linked to the evolution of Catalan culture of the century XX.

Joan Triadú was a teacher, pedagogue, literary critic, writer, translator and, above all, a great defender of the Catalan language and cultural activist. The technician of the Municipal Library, Josefina Canals, explains that “as a person, Triadú has many recognitions, among which we can highlight the Creu de Sant Jordi in 1982 or the Honorary Prize for Catalan Literature, in 1992 ”.

The exhibition Joan Triadú in the city of books It consists of a total of six panels, through which a brief review of Joan Triadú’s literary career is made. We can thus find how we are told about his figure as a writer and essayist throughout his literary chronology, as well as his work as a literary critic for more than 64 years.

From this task, “Joan Triadú allowed himself to put on a scale everything that was in the country and make a choice, which he later used to carry out his well-known anthologies and distribute them among the different teachers of Catalan ”, Canals continues.

Finally, the exhibition also reviews his work as a hopeful activist and the literary references he created over time, including the writers Víctor Català – pseudonym of Caterina Albert -, Pompeu Fabra i Poch and Josep Vicenç Foix and Mas.
