Truck and passenger car, city and coach drivers are getting better results day by day in the fight to save materials. Behind the high numbers of savings percentages we find hard and persistent work.
Our drivers embraced the Hungarian Workers’ Party II. He set one of his crucial tasks in Congress: to increase material savings.
By knowing the car management and driving methods of the leading drivers in the Soviet Union, our drivers can use them to increase their fuel economy results. The two main tenets: the proper technical condition of the car and careful driving – ensure success.
With these aspects in mind, he achieved the now well-known results of the Stakhanovist driver Yakov Ivanovich Titov. Titov has spent almost every year since 1934 at the wheel. He developed his working method from many years of experience, the correctness of which is proved by numbers. At his initiative, 2,156 drivers from the Moscow City Passenger and Freight Directorate undertook to apply summer standards in the winter. One of the results of this was that the drivers of the No. I bus station in 1949-50. in winter, 135,827 liters of gasoline and 74,325 liters of crude oil were saved.
The experience of the best drivers shows that achieving good results requires careful, everyday work. There are no particular “secrets” in petrol saving methods or a task that any driver would not be able to solve. The driver must study his car, master the leading methods, increase his skills, observation and initiative.
Exemplary results can be achieved with cars in a variety of conditions and built on different technical systems.
We know many people are reluctant to have “others” have a say in his or her individual leadership methods. But today, many are taking over the experiences of the leaders. The camp of those who feel that the car entrusted to their care is their own and who place great emphasis on reducing operating costs for the benefit of themselves and the national economy is growing.
The 1100 Fiat of drivers Sándor Futó and László Kozma went on sale 13 years ago. However, this did not rule out that careful drivers would not be able to save fuel. Instead of consuming twelve liters of gasoline, the car needs 8.5-9 liters of fuel. As interlocutors, they both make sure that this consumption does not increase in any way, but rather is even less than it is now. They certainly don’t use a suction cup. A running specialist does not rest, gets out of the car and makes it easier to start the engine by gripping the intake manifold in cold weather. They take special care to repair their car themselves in good time. But when the car goes to the workshop, the mechanics also admit that their Fiat shows no traces of years as a result of careful handling. They are both pleased to see that the young people in Autotaxi are enthusiastically joining the thrift movement and are confident that more results will be achieved in the future.
The “Ikarus 30” GF-613 arrives at the terminal with a second accuracy. However, its leader, János Petró, is not only famous for his accurate driving time, but he is also a multiple innovator who is also at the forefront of fuel economy. He drives his car in urban traffic and, overturning arguments that only a small amount of fuel can be saved in urban traffic, has achieved a 41% reduction during the winter months. This number is not the work of chance, but the result of careful car handling and economical driving. According to János Petró’s observation, the engine of his bus works the most economically between 1300-1700 rpm and tries to keep it at all times. Arriving at any of the terminals, your first thing is to check your car, check the oil level, the cooling water. Petró’s specialist successfully transfers his working methods. In this way, according to his instructions, István I. Balogh, a driver, also consumed less fuel.
It has covered more than 80,000 km, often in difficult terrain, with a full load of junior. István Kocsis on the ZISZ 150 car of the Freight Transport. He has proven that careful handling of the car is beneficial even in adverse conditions. Even in winter, you can save 20-27% of the fuel spent on your car. He keeps his fuel record book accurately, as without it you would only notice any overconsumption late. Of course, that’s not all, and there’s still a lot to do around the car. If the temperature on your country road requires it, you will remove the battery at night, take it to a warm place and thus make it easier to start in the morning. When you stop for a short time, you often spread your own fur on the hood. His car is stored outdoors all winter, but he has no particular problems starting. The rhythmic sound of the ZISZ engine proves that with careful handling, the big cold is not an insurmountable obstacle either.
Among the drivers of MÁVAUT, the first among the leaders in fuel savings, we talked to Levente Kovács, a four-time stahanovist and the proud owner of two stahanovist badges. We still found it at work; Together with mechanic János Csikós, the disassembled bus engine was examined. There is always room for improvement in the car, which has completed 400,000 km on 8,000 km without major repairs. Such a result can really only be achieved with great expertise and careful leadership. It also takes advantage of all the options that save the engine and thus reduce fuel consumption. His alternate, Gál, a specialist who is also a four-time stahanovist, applies the same technical rules and thus their joint work has produced their outstanding results. His partner is now sharing his experience in Miskolc to achieve further success.
The results of József Zsengellér did not lag behind the former. The bus he drives doesn’t give the workshop workers much work. The driver’s care extends to everything. It does not drive with tight brakes, but it does not start your car even if the wheel hub bearings are worn. When you have a few minutes of stop during service, use this to review the structure of the car. But if it is still necessary to do some work that can only be solved with the help of the workshop, he will also be involved in this repair. In our picture we can see Gyula Kiss with a mechanic discussing a repair around one of the brakes.
Bus driver János Kuti is also an employee of MÁVAUT. We also ask him how he achieves his great performances and significant fuel savings. “There’s nothing vicious about it, you have to drive and handle the car conscientiously and carefully – we hear the basic conditions. – The driver’s attention must be drawn to everything, the ignition, valves, cooling systems and, last but not least, the tire pressure must be checked. He does the latter so practically that even though he uses an instrument, he can also determine the sound of the tires by a half-atmosphere difference, according to his experts, at the sound of a hammer blow. Everyone we’ve just talked to considers it most important for the driver to love their car. In addition, they all have some specific way of working that they try to pass on to their co-workers and they all fight to save more for our economy. They are constantly improving their technical knowledge, they want to get to know the car entrusted to them even better, so that they can surpass their results so far.
