Eugene (USA) – American bowler Ryan Crouser set a new world record at the home championship in Eugene with a performance of 23.37. The current maximum of compatriot Randy Barnes, which has been in force since 1990, was surpassed by the 28-year-old incumbent Olympic champion by 25 cm.

The silver medalist from the world championship, who has been holding the indoor world record with a performance of 22.82 since January, indicated a great form already in the qualification. He advanced with the second longest attempt of his career at 22.92 and in the fourth series of the finals he significantly improved his maximum from the May meeting in Tuscon, where he broke the 23 meter (23.01) mark as the third bowler in history.
