AMD to unveil new Epyc data center CPUs and Instinct GPUs next month

AMD Announces the upcoming Accelerated Data Center event for Monday, November 8 at 5:00 PM CET. During the reveal event, the Red Camp led by Dr. Lisa Su to tell you more about the Epyc server CPUs and Instinct GPUs. The Accelerated Data Center presentation can be followed live via AMD’s website.

Although AMD has of course not yet revealed any concrete details about the presentation, various leaks have recently pointed to a Milan X refresh. Reportedly, the upcoming generation will get significantly more L3 cache memory. This would be made possible by a new 3D V-Cache technique, where cache chiplets are placed on top of the core chiplets. The same technique will also be used for upcoming Ryzen CPUs based on Zen 3 architecture, AMD confirmed after Computex 2021.

In addition, a new generation of data center GPUs will probably be released under the Instinct family name. AMD drivers previously referred to the Instinct MI250 and Instinct MI200 data center accelerators. According to the unofficial information, there are significant leaps forward in performance.
