The Ryze 5000 Series APUs are largely based on the new Cezanne architecture, but a reheated Renoir known as Lucienne from the last generation has been chosen instead for the three models.
At virtual CES 2021 today, AMD unveiled the new generation of Ryzen 5000 Series APUs for laptops. The new APUs were formerly known by the codenames Cezanne and Lucienne.
The new Ryzen 5000 Series APUs will be divided into H and U series and the H series will be further divided into H, HS and HX models. The H-Series APUs are all based on the Cezanne architecture, while the U-Series is a mix of Cezanne and Lucienne circuits.
For some reason, AMD has not mentioned the exact configuration of the graphics graphics driver for the only APU that has just been released. However, both the Cezanne and Lucienne chips have eight Compute Units in the Vega architecture at their best. Both chips support eight PCIe 3.0 bands.
At best, the Ryzen 5000H Series APUs feature eight Zen 3 cores with SMT support, 16MB of L3 cache. In the H models, the TDP of the APU circuit is set to 45 watts and in the HS models to 35 watts. Savings in TDP have been achieved at a lower base clock frequency. The official TDP for the HX models, like the H models, is 45 watts, but they are designed to be overclocked and allow the TDP to be exceeded. In terms of performance, AMD says the Ryzen 9 5900HX covers the Intel Core i9-10980HK in the Cinebench R20 test with a single thread difference of 13 percent. In the Passmark PT10’s processor points, which measure overall processor performance, Ryzen is ahead by as much as 35% and in the 3DMark Fire Strike physics test by 19%.

In the Ryzen 5000U series, two of the five models are based on the Cezanne architecture, as in the H series, but the remaining three models are reheated Renoir APUs known by the Lucienne codename. The Cezanne models are the Ryzen 5 5600U and 7 5800U, while the Ryzen 3 5300U, 5 5500U and 7 5700U are Luciens. According to AMD’s own tests, the Ryzen 7 5800U covers the Intel Core i7-1185G7 processor in the PCMark10 DCC test by 18% and in the Applications test by 7%, in the Adobe Premiere encoding test by 44% and in Blender 3D: n radius monitoring test with a difference of 39%. The processor is praised to reach a best battery life of 17.5 hours for general use and 21 hours for video viewing, but the slide did not mention the size of the battery for which the readings were obtained.
