The Ryzen 5000 C Series processors are based on the familiar Cezanne chip with Zen 3 processor cores and a Vega graphics driver.
AMD has released a series of new processors for Chromebooks. Ryzen’s 5000 C Series processors are based on the Cezanne architecture familiar from the company’s previous Zen 3 mobile processors.
The AMD Ryzen 5000 C Series includes a total of four different processor models: the Ryzen 3 5125C, 3 5425C, 5 5625C and 7 5825C. The top-of-the-line Ryzen 7 5825C includes a full eight Zen 3 processor cores and an 8 Compute Unit Vega graphics controller. The Ryzen 5 5625C, which is less than a notch lower, has six cores and seven CUs Vega, while the Ryzen 3 5425C has four cores and six Compute Units. At its core, the Ryzen 3 5125C is dual-core and equipped with only three Vega CUs. All processor models use SMT technology to support running two threads on a single core. You can find the most important information about processors in the slide above.
According to AMD, the Ryzen 7 5825C significantly improves performance over the company’s previous flagship Chromebook, the Ryzen 7 3700C. In the Webxprt 3 test, which focuses on web browsing, the difference is 67%, in the Geenekch 5, which uses all threads, 107%, and in the Motion Mark 1.2, which measures graphics performance, 85% in favor of the 5825C. In the same tests, the differences from Intel’s Core i7-1185G7, which is also used in Chromebooks, are 7, 25 and 10% in favor of AMD. Battery life, in turn, was compared with the Crxprt 2 Battery Life test, in which the Ryzen 5 5625C covered the Core i5-1135G7 with up to 94% better performance.
The new Ryzen 5000 C Series processors will arrive on Chromebooks this quarter with the HP Elite C645 G2. HP’s laptop will be launched in the third quarter of the year with Acer’s 2-in-1 Spirit Chromebook Spin 514.
