AMD conceived its presentation as at the end of the previous year, as always, only the audience was only virtual in front of the polished stage. However, some guests such as Panos Panay from Microsoft and the executive director of the legendary Industrial Light & Magic studio also joined Lisa Su.

But we are interested in hardware innovations that AMD is going to launch soon, and that will be above all Ryzen 5000 “Cezanne”, or mobile APU with Zen 3 cores. Lisa Su boasted that her AMD would offer the only 8-core processors suitable for ultra-thin laptops and promised high battery life.

Specifically, it is mainly the Ryzen 7 5800U with 8C / 16T at up to 4.4 GHz, which was compared with the Core i7-1185G7. This is, of course, only a quad-core from Intel, which is going to launch its eight-core Tiger Lake-H processors in a few months. In other words, Tiger Lake-H will be the real rivals for the new Ryzens, but they are not here yet, so AMD can still take advantage of the competition that is current with peace of mind.

But then there will also be the powerful Cezanne and among them the best model Ryzen 9 5980X with 8C / 16T, clock speed up to 4.8 GHz, 20 MB L2 and L3 cache and 45 + W TDP. It will also get competition later, so now it can easily crush the available Core i9-10980HK model. The new mobile APUs will be offered from February on a total of 150 different mobile computers (half more than the previous generation).
Graphics RDNA 2 will get into mobile computers in the first half of this year, but we’d better look at 3rd generation server EPYC codenamed Milan. These will of course be based on the Zen 3 generation, so it is quite clear what to expect from them. It will still be a maximum of 64 cores thanks to eight chipsets mounted around the I / O chip. But that will still be enough, as competition within 10nm Xeons can provide at best 36 cores in one socket.

The new unnamed EPYC Milan with 32 cores was then built in an internal test by AMD against the 28-core Xeon 6258R, which was surpassed by 68% in the WRF weather simulation software.

AMD has only rubbed a little about the new desktop graphics in its presentation, confirming previous reports that the new RX 6700 or other weaker cards are not yet on the market. It looks like AMD is preparing a new low-end in addition to the RX 6700 with Navi 22 (successor to Navi 10), which should carry the Navi 23 chip. And that’s all that can be read from this picture and at the same time we are they also exhausted all the main topics from the AMD presentation.
Unfortunately, no surprise happened, but what about NVIDIA?
