The list below includes games that already support FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) and are followed by titles that are in the pipeline or for which support is still in progress. The last update moved the number of items to 71.
However, according to unofficial information, AMD is also preparing the so-called Radeon Super Resolution (RSR). The RSR will differ from the FSR in a similar way as the CAS differs from the RIS. It is basically the same technology, but in the first case implemented on the game side and in the second on the driver side. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Game-side support gives better hope for a better result, some compatibility (within the game) and application of the effect where desired (as the developer chooses – for example, the effect is applied only to game content, but texts and user interface elements are rendered in full resolution for maximum quality). However, the disadvantage is that in games where the technology is not supported, it cannot be turned on.
This, in turn, is an advantage of driver support that can bring Super Resolution to a wide range of games. However, the result of some of them may not be as good as the implementation by the developer, who can fine-tune the effect and the game so that the result is optimal.
Radeon Super Resolution should have one major requirement for the game, namely support for Exclusive FullScreen mode.
Super Resolution has one major advantage over Nvidia NIS (Nvidia Image Scaling), which also does not require game support. While NIS only works as an upscaler, an image magnification algorithm, Super Resolution applies an extra pass in which it performs edge reconstruction. Although the quality of its result depends on the quality of the anti-aliasing of the rendered image, it is always essentially higher than in the case of NIS, which does not deal with edge reconstruction.
