AMD plans to change the Zen and RDNA architectures at the end of next year. Processors with Zen 4 architecture have been planned for 2022 for a long time, which is also confirmed by the presentation directly from the manufacturer.
Before this architecture produced by the 5nm production process arrives, we should see a smaller update called Zen 3+ planned for the end of this year. This update will bring especially 3D vertical cache and the manufacturer promises a decent 15% increase in performance in games.
In terms of graphics, RDNA 3, according to speculation, will improve Ray-tracing performance in particular, where AMD lags behind due to the absence of dedicated hardware. Nvidia is at the forefront of this area thanks to earlier deployment and expanded support.
RDNA 3 is expected to bring an even sharper increase in performance over the transition from RDNA to RDNA 2. The announcement and launch date will likely be similar to the timing of Zen 4 processors.
With this timing, AMD will build its chips against Intel’s Meteor Lake and new graphics from Nvidia.
