AMD earned more money in the third quarter than in 2016 combined

The Reds closed another record-breaking quarter.

AMD has already boasted record revenues in its most recent second-quarter financial report, and recently also released its third-quarter balance sheet for the year ended September 25, marking another high in the company’s history.

The red team can now look forward to the fifth quarter in a row, with revenues more than 50 percent higher than the same period last year. The latest success is attributed to high demand and improving supply.

As the graph below shows, AMD had revenue of $ 4.313 billion in the third quarter, up 54 percent from its third-quarter earnings in 2020, and by the way, no more than the company earned throughout the 2016 business year. Dynamic growth has been going on since early 2020.

Of the 4.3 billion in revenue, $ 2.086 billion was gross profit, more than 70 percent more than in the same period in 2020. On the other hand, the jump in net income is even more spectacular: $ 923 million in the third quarter of 2021 is 137% higher than the $ 390 million wound up in the third quarter of 2020.

In a commentary on the results, AMD President Lisa Su highlighted strong sales of 3rd generation Epyc processors for data centers and praised the company’s supply chain:

“Our supply chain team performed extremely well in a challenging environment and delivered more and more inventory throughout the year, supporting our strong revenue.”

The leader also said they are making significant investments to expand capacity to ensure long-term growth. And there may be plenty of potential in the chip market, as all the bigger companies agree that by 2023, demand could exceed supply.
