AMD B650E ‘Extreme’ Chipset Confirmed, Offers PCI-Express 5.0 for M.2 and GPU

In a leaked slide the existence of the AMD B650E chipset is confirmed. It is the ‘Extreme’ variant of the B650. The new B650E offers PCI Express 5.0 support for both the video card and an m.2 SSD, just like the X670E chipset. The regular B650 also supports PCI Express 5.0, but not for both at the same time.

Unlike the X670E, the B650E has fewer PCI Express lanes available because it uses one AsMedia Promontory 21 chipset. Two ‘chiplets’ are used for the X670 and X670E. The first motherboards using the B650 chipset are expected to be released next month.
