Always heartfelt and true stories. The London duo Vega Trails / Day will perform in Ventspils

Duets Vega Trails has recently realized the idea cherished by two musicians for a while. It features music from two other already well-known British contemporary instrumental music groups – Portico Quartet founder double bassist and composer Mailo Ficpatriks and the trio Mammal Hands participant saxophonist Jordan Smart.

During the meeting, Mailo Ficpatriks immersed himself in music that was extensive and less known to him and many listeners in the past. He listened extensively to Swedish folk music for violin and Indian classical music. True, the last push to form the duo gave the artist Charlie Heiden’s duo album Closeness hearing, after which Mailo had no doubt – his partner must be Jordan Smart.

“I had seen Jordan play for our joint record company Gondwana Records events in Berlin and Tokyo. Every time I was fascinated by his equally extremely intense and confident manner of play. “If I may say so, her complete dedication to taking both myself and the audience to another reality during the concert left an indelible impression on me,” says Mailo Ficpatriks about his like – minded person.
