Barely nine out of ten tattoo places do not comply with the regulations in this area.
The Swedish Safety Agency writes this in a press release after carrying out inspection visits to 273 tattoo places last year.
While eight escaped with a guideline, 237 tattoo parlors were required to comply with the rules.
It is different which mistakes the tattooists make. A frequent error in the control was that the necessary documentation for the ink used for tattooing could not be presented.
It was a problem in almost half of the places.
Also, storing equipment was a frequent mistake. According to the rules, the equipment must be stored in a closed place, but in half of the places it was out front.
Hygiene is also a topic that is repeated in the Danish Safety Agency’s control. It is a requirement that you have completed a hygiene course to be a tattoo artist.
– But of course they also have to use what they have learned about hygiene when they tattoo the customers in everyday life, and we can see that there are some who forget, says Søren Assenholt Muff, head of the Swedish Safety Agency’s office in the press release.
Almost every third tattoo artist did not have a valid hygiene certificate, while approximately 20 percent did not demonstrate correct hand hygiene.
