From January 1, 2023, the amount of the monthly allowance for children will be increased to 250 euros.

This means an increase of 31 euros more than before for the first and second child and 25 euros for the third child. The rate for the fourth and subsequent children will remain unchanged.

In Germany, the allowance is generally paid:

for all children up to the age of 18;

for children in education up to the age of 25;

for unemployed children up to the age of 21.

Who can apply to get the allowance

A parent who has been legally employed in Germany for at least 6 months or who runs his own business in Germany or who is a posted worker can apply for Kindergeld (child benefit).

According to German law, family allowance is paid for natural children, adopted children, as well as for other children belonging to the household, i.e. spouse’s children or grandchildren, according to ziarulromanesc.de
