Allegation of wife murder against UP candidate in Gaibandha

According to locals, Dadan businessman Fazle Rabbi, son of Latif Mistry of Dholmara village in North Kholahati, got married to Ratna Begum, daughter of Jahangir Alam of Hossainpur village in Kanchipara union of Fulchhari upazila about seven years ago. Fazle Rabbi used to pressure his wife for dowry after marriage. Ratna Begum has two sons. Rabbi Fazle Rabbi, a businessman from Dadan, fell in love with a foreigner and married Farzana Begum, another man’s wife, about six months ago. With this, there were almost quarrels and disputes in the family. Neighbors came forward to settle the dispute and in fact beat them up and drove them away.

According to the locals, the victim’s son Ronnie (7) got hurt when he climbed a tree to nest on Sunday afternoon. After learning this news, in the afternoon, Fazle Rabbi tied his son Ronnie’s hands and pressed a brick on his chest and laid him on the ground. It broke Ronnie’s arm and left him at home without treatment. When Rony’s mother Ratna Begum protested against this incident, Fazle Rabbi beat her severely. Ronnie and his younger brother Habib (4) fell asleep with their mother at night.

Fazle Rabbi slept in another room with his second wife late at night after the election campaign. In the morning, Fazle Rabbi beat up his wife Ratna Begum. When Ratna Begum died, she tried to hang her body in a chalk-like manner, but when she failed, Fazle Rabbi left Ratna’s body on the bed and fled.

Two brothers Ronnie and younger brother Habib cried when they saw Ratna Begum lying dead next to them. Later, people from the area came and saw Ratna Begum’s body and informed the police. When police arrived at the scene, locals protested, demanding the arrest of Fazle Rabbi, including Satin Farzana Begum. They demanded the execution of those involved in the killings. The police took control of the situation, prepared an inquest and recovered the body.

Gaibandha Sadar Police Officer in Charge (OC) said the investigation. Abdur Rauf said the body of the housewife was sent to the morgue after receiving the news. Fazle Rabbi’s second wife Farzana Begum has been detained for questioning in the incident.
