Ismam Hossain, DIU Representative ::

In Dhaka International University (DIU), a student named Qutub Alam of CSE department has been allegedly beaten up and threatened with death. In this regard, the victim student has given a written complaint to the proctor of the university.

University Proctor Md. Abu Tarek confirmed this information to the media on Sunday (August 21). According to the complaint letter, Qutb Alam is a student of Day-55 batch of DIU CSE department. On June 28, he was beaten up by the leadership of the Limon government for pulling a banner at the university’s CPC club and asking for an account of flood relief money.

It is alleged that Rafid, Abdur Rahman, Tanzin, Sujan, Rajkumar and many others were involved in this incident. Many of them are known to be workers of Chhatra League. At the time of the incident, the CCTV camera of the Green Road campus canteen was off due to unknown reasons. However, the complainant pointed out that because of the pre-planned attack by BCL, only they can shut down the CCTV cameras.

The charge sheet also said that I could not say anything due to pressure and fear of misinformation to seek justice. I broke down mentally after the incident. At the same time, even though I told my family, they are spending days in fear for my life. In this situation, I am suffering from security crisis outside the university and university. But after coming out with mental trauma, I felt that this reign of terror should end. There are many more victims like me. None of them open their mouths against this terror for fear of their lives.

Meanwhile, in the screenshots of the conversation between Limon Sarkar and his associates that came to the media regarding this incident, it was seen that Limon was ordering his associates to beat Qutb. At the same time, the evidence of asking for the list of Qutb’s fathers has also been found there. Besides, another associate of Limon, Abdur Rahim, wrote ‘Qutubke Kupabo’.

When asked about the complaint to the Limon government, he said that he did not know about the issue of the charge sheet. In response to the question about what happened on that day, he said that on the basis of many allegations against the complainant Qutb Alam, he was called that day and warned not to do such things in the future.

When we contacted the proctor of the university, Md. Abu Tarek, he said, we have received a written complaint. Based on the complaint, a three-member high-powered inquiry committee has been constituted. The committee will submit the investigation report within the next seven working days. Further action will be taken based on the report of the committee.
