The Alegro shopping centers will reinforce energy efficiency measures during the Christmas season. In addition to the daily control of energy consumption, where the energy used comes 100% from renewable sources, at Christmas the lights will only be turned on from 6 pm.

The measure by Nhood Portugal, the managing entity of the Alegro shopping centres, is in line with the environmental commitment and with the recommendations of the government and regulatory agencies in the energy sector, aiming to contribute to an effective reduction of 8% to 10% in energy consumption, in the portfolio, until the end of 2022.

“Although we know that Christmas lighting is part of the magic of this festive season, we also believe that everyone, as members of civil society, is aware of the importance of energy efficiency”, says, in a statement, Carlos Costa, real estate south director from Nhood Portugal.

Rui Vacas, real estate north director of Nhood Portugal, reinforces: “From the very beginning, at Nhood, we have operated with a focus on the triple positive impact – planet, people and income – on the assets we have under management”.

Last month, the Sonae Sierra shopping centers decided to do the same, only turning on the Christmas lights, also from 6 pm.
