Alarming situation in event organizing agencies

Today, the marketing network published the results of research by agencies for the organization of fairs and other events, as part of the Agency Report study.

In the first place in terms of operating income and in fourth place in terms of net profit is the agency MPG Plus. This agency recorded a drop in revenue of 38.44% and a drop in net profit of 75.59%. In addition, MPG Plus hired one new colleague in 2020, an increase of 1.43%.

It is in second place in the table by operating income and eighth in net profit Poliplan 1 to 1. This agency recorded a decrease in operating income by 7.86%, as well as a decrease in net profit by 7.45%. Polyplan 1 to 1 increased the team by 5.41% in 2020.

It is in third place in terms of operating income and third in terms of net profit Smartpoint Adria. This agency recorded a decrease in operating income by 29.59%, as well as a decrease in net profit by 38.64%, but an increase in the number of employees by as much as 32.26%.

Fourth place after operating income went to Beoexpo System. This agency recorded a decrease in operating income in 2020 by 48.58%, as well as a decrease in net profit by 85.47% and a decrease in the number of employees by 6.67%.

XYZ Communications in 2020, it was in fifth place in terms of operating income and fifth in terms of net profit. This agency recorded a decline in both financial parameters – 34.95% in operating income and 36% in net profit. The number of employees decreased by 7.14%.

Agency M2Communications recorded a decrease in operating income by 46.06% and a decrease in net profit by 88.60%. And an agency Reproduction records a decline in 2020 in operating income of 69.61% and a decline in net profit of 1613.59%. It’s the same with the agency United Moment, which recorded a decrease in operating income by 45.98% and a decrease in net profit of 1145.38%.

A total of 25 legal entities are registered with the Business Registers Agency of the Republic of Serbia, which primarily deal with the organization of fair appearances and other events.

The total business income of agencies for the organization of fairs and other events in 2020 fell by 42.28%. Net profit at the level of this group of agencies, after stable growth in 2019, recorded a large decline of 77.85%. The number of employees in event organizing agencies increased by 0.95%. Most new colleagues were hired by SmartPoint Adria (10).

After the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus pandemic, the organization of fairs and other events was completely stopped. For more than a year and a half, there are no indications when the event organization industry could resume work at full capacity. All agencies in this group recorded a decline in revenue in 2020, and most of them also saw a decline in net profit. Some agencies have managed to transform and offer digital marketing services or organization of online events, but these results will be visible only in the coming period.
