Air purification plants PC Press

Because the world is breathing harder, there is more and more talk about factories whose main goal will be to extract tons of carbon dioxide from the air. The problem is serious in all parts of the world, including Serbia, which is facing serious air pollution, especially during the winter. The factories are still far from our country, and the largest so far is recently began with work in Iceland.

The new factory was built by the Swiss company Climeworks, and works with the help of geothermal energy sources. The collected carbon dioxide will be stored in “containers” of basalt rocks. This means that the previous ones have been abandoned controversial plans within which it was planned to divert the harmful gas into the pipe, and transport it to places where it could be stored below the surface of the earth.

Experts point out that this is still the case a small step in the fight for the planet – a way for large companies to at least partially redeem themselves for their contribution to global warming and the greenhouse effect. The new Icelandic factory took the name Orca, a it is planned to extract about four tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere annually. It is a the amount produced annually by 790 passenger cars, which is a trifle compared to the number of pollutants.

Although it is a small step, experts hope that this principle could help in the future, and reduce the amount of carbon dioxide, before it is too late.
