The Czech hockey players, after losing 0:3 to the USA in the quarterfinals of the World Cup, finished in eighth place at the championship. Several experts attribute the failure to Finnish coach Karim Jalonen. One of them is the owner of HC Dynamo Pardubice, Petr Deděk.

Although Jalonen has a contract with the national team until next year’s WC in Prague and Ostrava, Deděk demands his resignation.

“Someone is always responsible for the team, the nomination and the results. And with the current model, it is the coach or the entire coaching staff. The final result at the World Cup is unsatisfactory.

It’s a real shame! But the image of the game itself was also bad. We did not play a single match in which we dominated the opponent. Half of the players had nothing to look for in the national team,” he said in an interview for sport.cz the owner of the Pardubice club.

He also sees a problem in the union, where the president has changed, but most of the members of the executive committee have remained.

“The former management constantly damaged Czech hockey. There was a lack of money for coaches and also for clubs. The union is responsible for that,” says Deděk.

According to him, it did not work at all in the Czech team, which he also heard from the players themselves.

“The whole coaching staff should put it down and resign themselves. Not that they have to dismiss him. What they have shown is a shame! A shame for all of hockey.

The domestic WC, which awaits us in a year, should be beneficial for our hockey. In such a state, the players won’t even want to come to represent,” Deděk thinks.
