Afraid of Weight Gain During Eid? Eat Food Using These 3 J Principles

Suara.com – The threat of gaining weight due to eating a lot of food during Eid is certainly a scourge for some people. Nutritionists also provide advice for people who do not want to gain weight.

This was said by the Deputy Chair of the DKI-Jakarta branch of the Indonesian Clinical Nutritionist Association (PDGKI-Jaya) dr. Ida Gunawan. The 3J principle can be applied when eating a meal, in order to prevent weight gain and digestive problems.

The principle of 3 J is the amount, meal schedule and type of food. In terms of quantity, people are advised to consume according to their needs, one of which can be based on daily habits, even though it is Eid.

“For example, if breakfast is a bowl of porridge, during Eid, breakfast is still one bowl, such as ketupat (plus side dishes),” explained Ida Gunawan to Antara, Sunday (1/5/2022).

The Nutrition Specialist at the Nutrition Consultant Clinic on Nutritional Metabolism Disorders who practices at Pondok Indah Hospital – Puri Indah continued, the next step is to eat according to a schedule.

Eat according to a schedule that is every three hours, with the rule of three main meals and three snacks or snacks, such as dry or wet cakes.

“In three hours (after breakfast) we can have lunch, no need for ketupat. We try other food menus and so on. Thus, a balanced nutritional pattern can be maintained and weight will not increase,” said Ida.

Ida reminded people not to overeat and force themselves to eat all the available dishes during Eid. This is because it can cause digestive problems.

“The type of food consumed in excess, for example, excessive fried foods, high-fat menus, excessive sweets, will all lead to digestive problems,” he added.

Regarding coconut milk, Ida advised people not to add a lot of coconut milk to their food plate. On the rendang menu, for example, people can take rendang meat without having to overdo it with the seasoning.

Likewise, vegetables with coconut milk sauce. He suggested that only vegetables are taken to be eaten, no need to add coconut milk.

“We don’t add coconut milk to our food menu, so we just take the vegetables, which are sure to stick to the coconut milk sauce,” he said.

“It’s enough to eat the vegetables with the ketupat or with the rendang, but only the meat. The rendang seasoning is just mixed,” Ida continued.

Therefore, in order not to experience digestive problems as well as weight gain after eating Eid dishes, people need to apply a balanced nutritional pattern by adjusting the amount, type and schedule of meals. [ANTARA]
