Acer’s new display is kneading at a brutal refresh rate

The Nitro XV272U KF is serious about low-latency gaming, but the company hasn’t forgotten the other demands either.

Acer is expanding its Nitro XV2 series with a serious monitor called the Nitro XV272U KF, targeting gamers with a serious refresh rate.

The 27-inch display has a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels, which means that the monitor has an aspect ratio of 16: 9. The IPS panel used, which covers 90% of the DCI-P3 color space and provides a color accuracy rating of ΔE <1, can be expected to have viewing angles of 178 degrees and a maximum luminance of 600 cd / m². This is complemented by a static contrast ratio of 1000: 1, while the gray-to-gray response time will be 0.5 milliseconds.

The main weapon in the VESA DisplayHDR 600-certified development is the refresh rate, which can be as high as 300 Hz, and gamers also benefit from a variable refresh rate, with AMD FreeSync Premium technology in the 48 to 300 Hz range.

Equipped with a 2×2 watt audio system, the monitor has two HDMI 2.1, one DisplayPort 1.4, one upstream and four downstream USB 3.0, a 3.5mm jack, and a USB Type-C interface, the latter supporting DisplayPort Alt Mode and 65 watts of power transmission. Thanks to the Acer Ergostand stand, the display itself can be tilted between -5 and 25 degrees and rotated 180 degrees, 90-degree pivot is available, height-adjustable and, optionally, wall-mounted thanks to 100 x 100 mm VESA holes.

An important addition is the TÜV / Eyesafe certification, part of Acer Vision Care 3.0, the Acer LightSense, which detects ambient light and adjusts the brightness of the display, and Acer ColorSense is also useful as it adjusts the color temperature of the display to the ambient color temperature.

Delivery of the Acer Nitro XV272U KF will begin in November and will cost € 1149.

In addition to the display for gamers, the company is also bringing in a CB273U-labeled 27-inch IPS monitor that is similar in several ways to its counterpart above. Among other things, IPS panel, 2560×1440 pixel resolution and HDR10 support are provided, but it does not support high refresh rates, but AMD FreeSync authentication is still the case.

With the CB273U, Acer is more focused on professional use, thanks to TÜV / Eyesafe certification, and the Ergostand stand is equally available, but the built-in docking station is an innovation. It includes a USB Type-C port for 90W power transfer, an RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet socket, and a built-in KVM switch. The latter allows you to switch between desktops and laptops without having to change peripherals, and that’s really the CB273U’s real weapon. For all this, the manufacturer is asking for $ 449, starting in November.

Although not a monitor, an interesting development is the ultra-short-throw laser projector called the Acer L811. This model delivers 4K resolution, 144 Hz refresh rate, HDR10, and 3,000 lumens of brightness while delivering 120-inch projection from just 0.312 meters (1.02 feet). In addition, content can be projected in 3D, and even a 240 Hz update is available in 1080p.

The projector with a built-in 10W speaker pair also offers a pre-installed store with a variety of streaming services and social media platforms, but it is obviously possible to mirror content from existing Android or Windows devices via Miracaston, or use iOS or Android with EShare is.

Dust-resistant, IP6X-certified development has received Acer EcoProjection technology, which the company claims reduces standby power consumption by up to 66% to increase laser life to 30,000 hours, with the option of continuous projection in 24 hours all days of the week. The L811 will also arrive in November, priced at € 2,599.
