Aspire 5 or 7, make your bets. Or rather, choose the versatile Acer laptop that’s right for you. These 15.6-inch screen models were announced and presented at CES 2021. And, to echo the release of the new AMD Ryzen 5000H and 5000U processors, some of them are embedded under the keyboard of these two great Acer families. .
The Taiwanese brand has, in the past, worked more with Intel than with AMD, but the tide continues to turn or, failing that, the forces seem to be rebalancing more and more for three years.

Depending on the Acer laptop models, the Ryzen processors (U for the two families) will be accompanied by, at best, 32 GB of memory on the Aspire 7 against 24 GB on the Aspire 5. No doubt that part of the DDR4 is soldered to the motherboard (8 GB surely) of the Aspire 5 given the maximum quantity announced.
On the storage side, the Aspire 5 and 7 will be able to offer up to 1 TB of storage on SSD and some Aspire 5 references will be sold with SSD and conventional hard drives.

The first models of Aspire 5 and 7 cru 2021 from Acer will arrive in stores during the second quarter of 2021. The Aspire 5 will be available from around 700 euros; while the Aspire 7 will have a higher price, 900 euros.
Nvidia or AMD GPUs for very casual gaming
For the 3D part, the CPUs are associated with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card (as on the Aspire 7) but, on some versions of the Aspire 5, there is also AMD, from the CPU to the GPU!
Let’s not get carried away, this is not a state-of-the-art Radeon 3D card as they are not expected for a while.
This is the Radeon RX 640, a small chip launched on the sly at the end of 2019 which – according to its data sheet – should not be more powerful than RX 550 or … a GeForce MX150. This 640 is therefore not a thunderbolt, it will however allow you to play a few small games from time to time, provided that you are not too demanding on the quality.

AMD or Nvidia, GPUs will project their images onto 15.6-inch Full HD IPS panels on both the Aspire 5 and 7, the former having however much thinner screen edges than the latter.

On the weight side, the Aspire 7 is announced at 2.15 kg on the scale while the Aspire 5, itself thinner (1.79 cm at the highest) should not exceed 1.7 kg according to our estimates.
The connectivity of the two families seems complete if we look at what we see in the photos provided by Acer, sets of sockets to which is added a Wi-Fi 6 module on the vast majority of models. Finally, the autonomy of the Aspire 5 and 7 is estimated at 10 hours.
