Paris – Belgian television LN24 published shortly before the polls closed the results of four polls conducted during the French presidential election, according to which the current head of state Emmanuel Macron is leading with 55 to 58 percent of the vote over his rival Marine Le Pen. Voting in France ends at 8 pm, when French television publishes the first screenings, which are usually more accurate than ongoing polls.

LN24 refers to surveys by four unnamed reputable opinion polls that Le Pen receives between 42 and 45 percent of the vote. She would not have reached the presidency as she had five years ago. The institutes conducted a survey on the Internet among voters who cast their vote by 5:00 p.m.

According to the editors of La Libre, these surveys are already circulating in the French media and in the campaign staffs of both candidates.

Polling stations in the French countryside closed at 19:00, in large cities voting ends at 20:00. Until then, the French media cannot publish the results of estimates based on polls among people who have already voted. Belgian or Swiss francophone media that are not bound by the French ban may publish their numbers earlier.

However, experts point out that such “preliminary results” should be taken with a grain of salt, as in recent years they have proved to be relatively different from the actual results.
