According to a survey, the proportion of those in Hungary who do not have savings has jumped

The Communication highlighted that for most respondents, existing savings are only enough for a few months. Nearly 70 percent of those surveyed feel that price increases will significantly worsen their financial situation, and for 8 out of 10 respondents, pay will not keep pace with inflation.

While last year, for example, 15 percent of respondents planned to buy a car, this year the rate was only 5 percent, they pointed out. They added that in 2022, many will be more likely to reschedule their spending and postpone their non-essential spending, such as a vacation.

According to the survey, the popularity of forms of savings has rearranged: the proportion of those who choose to make a bank deposit has fallen by 9 percentage points to less than 20 per cent, and the popularity of government bonds and equities has halved in one year. There is no change in the fact that one third of respondents keep their saved money in cash.

The mortgage company drew attention to the fact that valuables are extremely popular; 19 per cent of respondents may have jewelery, a high-value watch, an artefact or an increasingly popular investment gold block, for example.

Imre Dandé, Business Director of BÁV Pledge, said in a statement that 28 percent of those planning to take out a loan of less than HUF 500,000 are also considering taking out a mortgage.
