Intercentre meeting

The Martorell City Council, within the Environmental Education Plan (PEE), offers as a community action to secondary schools and post-compulsory higher education schools, an inter-centre sports day for students enrolled in the 3rd year of ESO. Throughout the morning, 385 students enjoyed a circuit of sports activities distributed by groups with members from all the participating centers. It took place in the Municipal Sports Hall and the Can Cases Sports Hall. Mayor Xavier Fonollosa, and councilors Rosa Cadenas, Elisabeth Plaza and Raquel Sans attended.

The Intercentres Meeting promotes sporting values, teamwork, gender perspective and adapted sport. The intention is to establish a point where they can exchange and share experiences, encouraging the interrelationship between boys and girls from different centers, enjoying the practice of sport and physical activity, and valuing the effects of an active lifestyle, from the integration of healthy habits in the practice of physical activity.

In addition, the appointment serves to recognize the specific values of sport in competitive and recreational situations, breaks down stereotypes in relation to sport and gender, clarifies basic concepts about equality and gender equity, and encourages debate on the gender perspective in sport.

Mayor Xavier Fonollosa has said that this is a very important day because “the activities have to do not only with physical activity, but also with the development of the mind. The great thing, however, is that all the teaching centers that do compulsory secondary school come together, the boys and girls know each other and that makes a village”.
