A unique exhibition of glass sculptures in the Daugavpils Museum of Local Lore and Art

Since July 9, an unusual exhibition of glass sculptures by the artist Anda Munkevitsa “Blue Horses on the Lake” has been held in the Daugavpils Local History and Art Museum. The exhibition features glass sculptures, decors, glass painting, as well as graphic works.

Anda Munkevitsa is a renowned glass artist and designer. Thanks to his fundamental knowledge and search for new means of artistic expression in glass art technology, Anda Munkevitsa is one of the most prominent representatives of glass design in the Baltics and Europe. She worked on the design of the stage for the Eurovision Song Contest in Riga, the stained glass windows for the Mary’s Chapel of the Riga Dome Cathedral, as well as the memorial in memory of the Zolitude tragedy.

In her works, Anda Munkevica preserves the traditions of Baltic glass art, emphasizing the uniqueness of Latvian stained glass artists, the Lithuanian school of monumental glass and the minimalism of Estonian glass design. The artist’s works are monumental ambitious. They testify to impeccable knowledge of techniques and technologies and at the same time impress with subtle emotional execution.

To date, 14 personal exhibitions of Anda Munkevica have taken place in Latvia and abroad. She has participated in over 60 group exhibitions, festivals, biennials and symposia in Latvia and abroad, where she received a number of important awards. The artist’s works can be found in museums and art galleries in Latvia and other countries of the world.

Until September 29, glass sculptures, decors and graphics of Anda Munkevitsa can be seen in the Daugavpils Museum of Local Lore and Art.
