Last summer, the Spaniards at Cupra brought us the Urban Rebel concept, revealed with the launch of the Terramar and Tavascan SUVs. At the time, the Urban Rebel prototype was said to foreshadow the Iberian manufacturer’s future electric crossover, which would be launched sometime in 2025.
Almost a year away from that event we have new information in this regard, the Urban Rebel concept will turn into a series model, according to Carscoops. Details on this subject were even provided by Cupra CEO Wayne Griffiths at the Barcelona Motor Show 2023. We don’t really know a lot about the upcoming production model yet, but we do now know what it will be called.
Cupra Raval is to be the next electric-powered city model from the Spanish manufacturer’s range, the name finding its inspiration in the Barcelona neighborhood of the same name. According to the first information, the Cupra Raval is to be built based on the MEB architecture of the Volkswagen Group, also used in the case of the Cupra Born. The new model will be built at the Martorell plant, and will hit the market in 2025.
The Cupra Urban Rebel was equipped with two 226 HP electric motors
Unfortunately, the Spaniards have not provided any technical details regarding the upcoming Cupra Raval. But looking at the details we had about the Urban Rebel concept, we have to say that the prototype was equipped with two electric motor units, capable of developing together 226 horsepower.
Under these conditions, the Spanish concept boasted at the time of launch an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h possible in 6.9 seconds. Also, despite being over 4 meters long, the Urban Rebel was said to be able to travel up to 440 kilometers on a single charge, which wouldn’t be bad at all if that figure were to be maintained and the series model Cupra Raval.
