A mutiny of the passengers of an Air Maroc plane frustrates the deportation of a migrant from Guinea Conakry from Gran Canaria

“Spanish, what have I done? Open the door, I want to go down”, with these words, desperate, sitting on the ground and with a seat belt that tied his legs at the knees, a man from Guinea Conakry begged not to be deported to his country . The events took place this Saturday on a Royal Air Maroc company plane that left Gran Canaria at 12:50 p.m. bound for Casablanca (Morocco).

According to the version of a witness of the events, the intervention of three of the passengers who were on board, later seconded by others, prevented the aircraft from taking off and the person was able to get off. The National Police have confirmed that the flight was paralyzed to “leave this person back on the Island.”

The man, escorted by two agents of the National Police, protested incessantly while sitting on the ground in the last row of the plane. He begged not to be deported to his country because there they would force him to go to jail, always according to the witness’s version. That was when three of the passengers on board began to intervene. They asked the man if he had applied for asylum, to which he replied that he had not. The passengers spoke with the agents to try to prevent the plane from taking off and the deportation from taking place, alleging that the law was being violated in the expulsion proceedings. Among those present was an official from the European Union, according to the woman whose testimony this newspaper has had access to.

After moments of tension, in which the company personnel tried to stop the intervention of the passengers, asking them to sit down to facilitate the imminent takeoff of the plane, the agents of the National Police asked that the flight be paralyzed so that the man could leave by order of his superiors.

At first, the company refuses and continues with the takeoff maneuvers despite the desperate requests of the immigrant and the passengers. But after a call to the Emergency and Security Coordination Center 1-1-2 and the intervention of the passengers with the company personnel (one of them came to speak with the commander of the aircraft), the plane frustrated its takeoff and he left the runway, returning to the parking area and allowing the man to get out. The crew then prevented the passenger who was most active and most favorable to the immigrant’s claims from taking that flight again.
