
A motorcyclist was killed when a tank carrying hydrogen peroxide fell from an oil wagon at the Saltgola rail crossing in Chittagong city.
After the accident on Thursday (June 8) around 10:30 pm, the traffic on the airport road was stopped.
The name of the deceased motorcycle rider is Moazzem Hossain Labloo (38). He is a resident of Abdul Gani Mistry house adjacent to Rabeya Workshop in East Motherbari of the city.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chittagong Port Police Station Sanjay Sinha said, “The oil wagon came out from inside the port. Meanwhile, a vehicle carrying hydrogen peroxide from Patenga tried to cross the railway crossing. The car carrying hydrogen peroxide hit the back of the car when the wagon moved before it crossed the railway line. A motorcyclist on the road was crushed when the tank of the car overturned. Port authorities removed the hydrogen peroxide tank and recovered the body. The railway police took the body to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.”
SI of railway police station. Abu Zafar Khan said, “Some of the locals say that the deceased youth used to drive a motorcycle on rent. He was waiting for a fare at the Saltgola crossing. Others say that he was driving a motorcycle.”
OC Sanjay said, “Traffic has been stopped on the road since the accident. Efforts are on to move the traffic.”
