The tax and customs police of the State Revenue Service (SRS) detained a Latvian citizen for importing undeclared EUR 706,140 from Lithuania, the SRS reported.

The money was found in the car of a Latvian citizen during a check at the Latvian-Lithuanian border. Since the citizen of Latvia did not declare this amount and could not explain the origin of the money, he was detained, and the money was confiscated.

Criminal proceedings have begun under Part 3 of Art. 195 of the Criminal Law on the possible legalization of large-scale financial assets obtained by criminal means.
