A keyboard will turn iPads into Macs (or almost)

L’United States Patent Office has recently approved a new request for patent from Apple concerning a keyboard that can be connected to a iPad by magnetic coupling. And so far nothing new, there are already many third-party products on the market that allow you to transform an iPad into a 2-in-1 mini laptop, with all the convenience of typing via physical keys (although not always really comfortable given the small size). For years I have been taking notes on mine iPad mini thanks to a keyboard Logitech (before my daughter decided to take it forever).

The novelty, however, lies in the user interface that would be activated once the keyboard is attached to the iPad, a graphic environment that would be very similar to that of macOScomplete with support forApple Pencil, the company’s famous nib. Looking at the diagrams attached to the patent, it also seems that on the hinges of the keyboard there could be a camera or a projector and a microphone, all signs pointing in a direction already mentioned in the sector: a possible Mac/iPad hybrid.

And considering that iPadOS does not satisfy all users, the possibility of using an iPad with an interface similar to that seen on Mac it could be at least interesting and make the experience of using the iPad more pleasant and productive, especially for those who use this device for activities related to creativity.

It must be said that Apple very often files new patents, but not everyone then sees a concrete use on real products, consequently we just have to wait and see if the Colossus of Cupertino will really offer us a MacPad.
