How would you describe the ideal keyboard for gamers? Mechanical keys, TKL layout, RGB backlighting and quality workmanship. Niceboy ORYX K500X hides exactly this.
Mechanical keyboards are the basis of any gaming setup, and it is on their buttons that your fingers will rest when playing, working or simply typing with friends. Therefore, the choice of this peripheral should not be underestimated. Today we take a look at a new product from Niceboy’s affordable Oryx gaming line.
ORYX K500X follows on from the very popular K300X model, which, however, had clicky switches. The very choice of switches is extremely important for a keyboard, and gamers prefer tactile variants when playing and working, or linear versions for gaming. You don’t have to worry, the keyboard with linear switches still works beautifully.
For this model, Niceboy chose switches from the proven manufacturer Outemu, which you can also find in much more expensive models. The Outemu Red features a linear grip, which is ideal for gaming. Pressing the buttons is not accompanied by a loud click, which is distracting when walking through the virtual battlefield and communicating. At the same time, there is no tactile response during pressing, so you can repeatedly press the buttons faster.
The keys themselves have Czech labels, which are of course translucent. You can see all characters even in the dark thanks to the discreet RGB backlight. The crayons can be edited in the included software, and there is also the creation of profiles, macros and a rich selection of light animations. You can thus customize the keyboard to your own image.
Layout is also important. TKL in this case means tenkeyless, i.e. without a numerical part. In most games, numbers are not needed and just take up space for the mouse unnecessarily. So you can move the keyboard around the table with more freedom to feel comfortable while playing. Your mouse will also appreciate more space not only when playing shooters. Thanks to its small dimensions, the keyboard can be carried more easily and is therefore suitable for LANs and other events.
Even such a compact keyboard does not lack media keys. They are activated with the Fn button and within a second you can turn on, for example, the browser or mute the music.
An old braided cable with a length of 1.5 meters is used to connect the keyboard, and on the underside we find adjustable anti-slip feet. The keyboard stays firmly on the table in any situation and won’t surprise you, even if you lean heavily into the game. The support for N-Key Rollover, when you definitely don’t have to worry about pressing several buttons at the same time, also proves this. All presses ORYX K500X records and never leaves you in the lurch.
A keyboard with an elegant and minimalist look is suitable for any gaming den.
The best thing at the end is the price tag. You can pay just 1,299 CZK for a keyboard that is equipped in this way, made to measure for gamers, which is half the price of other mechanical keyboards. In addition, there are also Czech labels and quality proven switches.
