Except for his mother, everyone was unaware of his existence. The authorities discovered quite by chance that a young 14-year-old teenager had been living in hiding with his mother in Rennes since birth. The young man had no papers, no doctor, no school, no administrative existence.

While her son is taken ill, his mother decides to take him to the hospital. The teenager is then taken in by child welfare. According to the doctors, his mother never enrolled him in school. Locked up at home, the young man spent most of his time in his room, without light or interaction with the outside world. His 48-year-old mother was placed in police custody on Monday May 15 and will be summoned to the Rennes Criminal Court for acts of “subtraction by a parent from his legal obligations compromising health, safety, morality or education of his child, and deprivation of care or food compromising the health of a minor under the age of 15 by ascendant or person having authority, detailed West France.
