7 DPR Factions Express Agree with the Name of the TPKS Bill

Suara.com – A total of seven factions who are members of the Working Committee (Panja) have officially expressed their agreement with the name of the Draft Law on the Crime of Sexual Violence (RUU TPKS). This was conveyed in the further discussion of the TPKS Bill at the Legislative Body of the DPR, Wednesday (11/17/2021).

First, the approval was conveyed by the PDIP Faction through My Esti Wijayanti, a member of the Working Committee for the Draft Law on TPKS. However, Esti made a note that prevention points should be included in the draft.

“In order to speed up this process, PDIP, I, and earlier in consultation with Mr. Kapoxi agreed that the word prevention is not necessary, so the title remains,” said Esti in a meeting at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday.

Then it was the turn of the Golkar and Gerindra factions to state that they both agreed with the current title. The Golkar faction considered that the existing title was already in charge of preventing sexual violence.

Then the Nasdem Faction also conveyed more or less the same thing. The existing titles are considered to be able to cover a wider range in accordance with the content discussed in the bill.

The Democrat Party faction also agreed with the name of the TPKS Bill, without including the reasons for its support. The PKB faction also stated that it agreed that as long as this law existed, it could provide legal protection and protection for victims of sexual violence.

Furthermore, for the PAN faction through Panja member Desy Ratnasari, he also agreed with the name TPKS. He hopes that the bill can be comprehensively related to the prevention of sexual violence, not only sanctions and punishments.

“We want this precaution to be included in the substance and a necessity that must be regulated in this bill. So that whatever we give to the community becomes more comprehensive,” said Desy.
