Five years of updates for Google Pixel 6

The website Carphone Warehouse has leaked the official marketing material of the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. As a result, we now know almost everything about the new smartphones. For example, Google provides the Pixel 6 with updates for five years. This probably only concerns security updates, intended to keep hackers out. Google does not say that the Pixel 6 will also receive five new versions of Android. Presumably there are fewer of them.

The Tensor chip, designed by Google itself, would be 80 percent faster than the processor in the Google Pixel 5. Now that device runs on a modest Snapdragon 765G chip, so that doesn’t say everything. Presumably the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are less fast than, for example, the iPhone 13 or the OnePlus 9 5G.

The Google Pixel 6 charges with a maximum of 30 Watts. That is a big upgrade compared to the Pixel 5, which has to do with 18 Watts. Furthermore, the marketing material confirms the arrival of the Google Pixel Stand. This wireless charger pumps fresh battery juice into the Pixel 6 with a speed of 21 Watts. Combined with the Pixel 6 Pro, that would even be 23 Watts.

Presentation on October 19

Many other details correspond to the previously leaked specifications of the Google Pixel 6. The camera (finally) gets a new sensor, which should provide much better photos.

Google will present the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro on October 19. Most likely, the smartphones will not be officially for sale with us in the near future. You can pick them up by driving to Germany. Presumably, some Dutch web stores also offer the phones via gray import. You usually pay a little more than the official price.
