4th edition of PR Arena. The competition for students launched by GWPR and FJSC has also expanded in the Republic of Moldova

PR Arena, the briefing competition for communication students, launched by the professional association Global Women in PR Romania (GWPR) in partnership with the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences within the University of Bucharest, it has reached its fourth edition. This year, students from Romania and the Republic of Moldova enter the “arena”. Over 130 students from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences (University of Bucharest), National School of Political and Administrative Studies (Bucharest), Transilvania University of Brașov, Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, Vasile Alecsandri University of Bacău, University West of Timișoara and the State University of Moldova have the opportunity to work with 50 mentors, with over ten years of experience in the field, within the PR Arena project.

The 4th edition of PR Arena takes place over five days, between April 12-16. The first days are dedicated to teamwork, with a mentor, to find the most creative and effective solutions to problems in a real brief. In this edition the brief comes from the Association of Patients with Neorodegenerative Diseases (APAN). The final of April 16 will feature the top 10 teams selected by a jury of representatives GWPR, FJSC and APAN, as well as all the mentors of this edition. In order to provide students with a one hundred percent real and relevant PR experience, the winning team will implement the thoughtful campaign together with the NGO team that came up with the brief.

“We were very happy when we saw that PR Arena crossed the borders of Romania and we have students from the Republic of Moldova entered in the competition. Now certainly nothing stops us from growing even more and becoming a relevant competition for students from all over the region. If we were to summarize the 4 editions we would say: 250 students from 10 universities, 65 mentors, 4 beneficiary NGOs, 3 implemented campaigns. In addition, every year we have students who either get hired after PR Arena or do internships within the companies or agencies from which the mentors come. PR Arena eit is a real test of fire in which the minds of future PR professionals are hardened ”, he says Ana-Maria Diceanu, President and co-founder of GWPR Romania.

“This year’s edition exceeded all our expectations and, when we saw that we had 50 teams registered, we did our best not to refuse the students who wanted to participate. We are glad that the industry has also mobilized and we have found 50 mentors willing to offer their time, energy and knowledge for these young people who want to put into practice the things they learn in school theoretically. There is a great need for this collaboration between the academic environment and the communication industry, and the PR Arena competition has been building solid bridges between the two for almost four years “, said lect. univ. dr. This year the awards for the teams on the podium come from ING Bank, Curtea Veche, Mega Image, Sanovita, BCR and the Pastel agency.
