At least one dose of vaccination against covid-19 was given to 41 percent of about 2.8 million inhabitants of the Czech Republic older than 60 years. More than every fifth of this age has complete protection with two doses. This is according to data from the Ministry of Health on vaccination. Vaccines in the Czech Republic are administered by healthcare professionals for four months without a week, and over 2.5 million doses have been given. Around 60,000 people usually receive vaccines on weekdays.
Between the ages of 60 and 65, 84,000 people, or about 13 percent of this age group, are vaccinated with at least one dose. Until now, they have received the vaccine only if they work as health professionals, teachers, social workers, in critical infrastructure or an integrated rescue system. Previously, people with selected serious diseases, such as diabetes, obesity, cancer, chronic kidney, lung or liver disease or asthma, could also be vaccinated. According to Monday’s statement by Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (for YES), others will be able to register for vaccination on Friday, April 23, only on the basis of age.
Minister of Health Petr Arenberger (for YES) added that the new group could register for vaccination every week. “Our indicative plan is that, depending on how well the vaccine is going, we would like to push the border by five years each week,” he said on Monday. For a group of 55 to 59 years, this could mean the possibility of registering next week and for a group of 50 to 54 years in the first week of May.
People aged 50 to 59 have already been vaccinated with a single dose of almost 178,000 (13%) and both more than 103,000 (7.7%). On Friday, the minister said that at the end of June, given the expected pace of vaccine deliveries and the speed of vaccination, registrations could be opened for people over the age of 40. If we continued to proceed in weekly cycles, they would reach them with registration as early as the week of May 17. About 3.25 million people live in the Czech Republic between the ages of 30 and 49, and about eight percent of them received at least one vaccine. Of the total population over the age of 16, 18.6 percent were partially vaccinated and ten percent were fully received with two doses.
The Czechia expects 2.56 million doses of covid vaccine in April, mostly from Pfizer / BioNTech. So far, 809 thousand doses have been administered by Monday. On average, more than 42,000 people received the vaccine in April, and more than 60,000 on weekdays after Easter. So far, the highest number was 71,665 administered vaccines on Thursday, April 15.
