According to police sources, the three missing students are Mim Akter, 9, daughter of Mafez Sheikh of Char Sardar Para village in Gaibandha union of the upazila, Monira Khatun, 11, daughter of Monwar Hossain of Sabhukara village in Char union of Goyal and Suryabanu, 10, daughter of Suruzzaman of Dakshin Sabhukura village.

Hasina Begum, the mother of the missing Meem, said, ‘I left my daughter in the madrasa 15 days ago. On Sunday afternoon, I came to know through the madrasa master that the girl had gone missing.

Monira Hossain, the father of the missing Monira Khatun, told the media that he had brought his daughter to the madrasa nine days ago. I heard on Sunday afternoon that he could not be found.

Suruzzaman, the father of the missing Suryabanu, said, ‘I left my daughter in the madrasa 15 days ago. The madrasa was informed on Sunday afternoon that Meem could not be found anywhere. After much searching, the girl was not found.

The students went missing the next day at noon

Muhtamim (headmaster) of the madrasa in the afternoon after the parents made the GD. Md. Asaduzzaman filed a general diary at Islampur police station. GD No. 511.

Muhtamim Asaduzzaman of the madrasa said the students were called for the Fajr prayers on Sunday morning. Everyone went to pray and the three students fled through the back window. Parents were later informed.

According to police and local sources, the second class students of Darut Taqwa Mahila Qawmi Madrasa in Banglabazar area fell asleep in the dormitory room of the madrasa on Saturday night. On Sunday morning, the teachers woke up the students to perform the Fajr prayers. Like other students, the missing children also prepare for prayers. No trace of them was found after the prayers.

Islampur police officer in charge. Majedur Rahman told the media that the police were sent to the madrasa after the parents lodged a GD with the police station. Teachers are kept under special surveillance. Four teachers, including Muhtamim of the madrasa, have been brought to the police station for questioning.
