Fifteen Sikhs were killed on the spot when a train collided with a bus in Sheikhupura, Punjab, Pakistan. The other four died on the way to the hospital. Most of the victims were Sikhs. In addition, many more were injured.
The accident happened on Friday (July 3rd) when a moving train collided with a bus carrying Sikh pilgrims at a railway crossing near Sheikhupura.
The accident took place while crossing the crossing near Farukabad railway station. Sikhs were returning to Lahore from Karachi. While crossing the crossing, their bus collided with a speeding Hussein Express.
Railway officials said there was no gate at the railway crossing. There was not even a guard. The bus driver tried to cross the railway crossing without looking anywhere. The Hussein Express was speeding at that time.
Pakistan’s Railway Minister Sheikh Rashid has ordered an investigation into the incident. Prime Minister Imran Khan also expressed his condolences.
