Last August, the American company Hennessey raised the bar for hypercars with the Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster, the convertible variant of one of the cars fastest in the world.

The recipe is identical to that of the coupe version, but with a removable roof and an extra exclusivity in the form of an even higher price because each of the 24 units of the coupe that was sold cost 2.1 million dollars.

The price of the Roadster amounts to 3 million dollars, the equivalent of the current change to €2.78 million. There is only one more expensive convertible: the Bugatti Mistral. Of course, it is manufactured by hand and tailored to each client.

Of course, more units of the Roadster will be manufactured, specifically 30 and we already know who owns one of them. The brand has published on its social networks a photo of the delivery of one of these 30 Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster and the protagonist is Michael Jordan.

The former player of the NBA has chosen the American sports car to expand its collection of cars, of which models such as the Ferrari 512 TRa Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 that he sold on eBay shortly after buying it, the Mercedes-Benz S600 Coupé (W140) modified by Lorinser that he also sold on eBay or a Bugatti Veyron Sang Noir, among many others.

Until now, none have been as powerful and fast as the new Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster. The American convertible has an engine 6.6-liter twin-turbo V8 which develops 1,842 hp at 8,000 rpm and delivers a maximum torque of 5,000 rpm. Its empty weight is 1,405 kg, so it has a power-weight ratio of 1.31 CV/kg.

With these figures it is not surprising that it accelerates 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and reach 400 km/h from a standstill in 15.5 seconds. What remains to be known is his maximum speed, but Hennessey’s goal is to reach the magical figure of 300 miles per hour, that is, 482 km / h, although the brand considers that it could exceed 500 km / h.

The person in charge of delivering his new car to Michael Jordan has been John Hennessey, founder and CEO de Hennessey Performance. In the publication of social networks, Hennessey has simply put that “Today has been a special day. It’s an honor to build a special Venom F5 for a special friend.”
