1606 shelters prepared in Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar – Bhorer Kagoj

1,606 shelters have been prepared in Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar to deal with super cyclone ‘Moka’. A total of 1 million seven thousand 100 people can be kept in these shelters.

The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief announced the information on Friday (April 12).

It is said that preparations have been made at all levels in these two districts. Upazila, Municipality, Union, Municipal and Union Ward Committee meetings have been directed to all upazila executive officers and upazila project implementation officers to take necessary preparations.

Salim Hossain, deputy chief information officer of the ministry, said that 2 million 30 thousand cash was given in Cox’s Bazar district. Besides, 590 tons of rice, three and a half tons of toast biscuits, three tons of dry cake, 20 thousand food saline and 40 thousand water purification tablets have been given.

Besides, eight thousand 600 volunteers of Cyclone Preparation Program (CPP) and two thousand 200 volunteers of Red Crescent Society have been kept ready in Cox’s Bazar district. And 576 cyclone shelters have been kept ready. which has a capacity of 5 lakh 50 thousand 99 people.

And 14 lakh eight thousand 500 cash was given in Chittagong. Besides, 608 tons of rice, three and a half tons of toast biscuits, three tons of dry cakes and 30 thousand packets of food saline have been stored. There are also 60,000 water purification tablets.

530 permanent and 500 temporary shelters have been prepared in the district. Their capacity is 5 lakh 1 thousand 110 people. Meanwhile, eight thousand 880 volunteers of CPP and eight thousand volunteers of Red Crescent Society have been kept ready.
