The goal is clear. Buy a server, processors and memory for five thousand. More than a year has passed since the release of the last episode about the server for 5,000 crowns, and I hope that the time has come for the next episode. Let’s look at super hardware that can still serve and quickly exceed the performance of eight-core AMD Ryzen 1700x processors, maybe even Ryzen 3700x.
It’s been more than a year since the first article Home Networking was published: Server 12 cores and 72 GB RAM up to CZK 5,000. And new ones are emerging in the used server market, much more modern and faster iron – with reasonable consumption.
This is not a gaming PC, but for similar money you could build a machine with high single-core performance. Games require fewer but highly clocked cores. Among other things, a tower server would be used as a basis for such use.
Aukro – purchase of a server
If we want a server for a few crowns, we start with Aukru – I was looking for something with the processor, at least Sandy Bridge, which I did. But beware! Don’t buy dearly! Wait for the right piece, this is older and for most people completely worthless hardware.
- Ebay – events from CZK 1 and a few for a reasonable price are interesting
- Spleen – enough offers, mostly you agree on the price, after all, it’s older HW
- sBazar – similar to Bazoš
- eBay – You can almost always get a server for a great price, but traffic is annoying
Servers with Sandy Bridge / Ivy Bridge processors are currently being replaced (removed from server rooms) and replaced with newer iron. Paradoxically, the most important thing about servers is performance, but extremely high reliability and fast repairability. The old server is often taken home by Ajťák to earn a few crowns.
Shopping at Aukra
This seller had a few pieces, so I ordered two.

And because the more servers … the more servers … um, well, just before Christmas, I got another same piece on Sbazar. The owner wanted more for him than I wanted to give, but dearly everyone can shop. Disks and memories were important for the owner, and the motherboard for me. The server without disks cost me 2,000 crowns.

The price of around two thousand is adequate for a “half-equipped” server.
A well-equipped server will be very expensive. These bits were cheap, but they need to update the BIOS, install newer processors, buy more CPU liabilities, add fans and memory.
