[아시아경제 장효원 기자] As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the interim count until 9 pm on the 20th showed fewer new confirmed cases than a week ago.
According to local governments, including Seoul, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in 17 cities and provinces across the country from 0 am to 9 pm on the same day was 107,568.
17,233 fewer than the previous day’s tally (124,891) and 8462 fewer than the 13th (116,030) a week ago.
It is the first time since June 18 (5760, a decrease of 1337 from a week ago) that the number of new confirmed cases decreased from a week ago in Saturday’s interim count.
Since the summer resurgence began in early July, the number of new confirmed cases doubled (doubled from the previous week), and the number of new confirmed cases has rarely decreased compared to the previous week, except for cases where the number of diagnostic tests decreased because it was a weekday holiday.
As of 0:00 am, the number of new confirmed cases per day from the 14th to today was 119,554 → 62,058 → 84,106 → 18788 → 178,574 → 138,812 → 120,000 9411 people.
The daily average was 127,615, an increase of 4.7% from the 121,845 the previous week (7th to 13th), and the increase showed a marked slowdown.
